Basset Hound

aka The Bassetaka Hush Puppyaka Low Rider
"Built six inches off the ground with the nose of a bloodhound and the urgency of a Sunday nap."
Low. Slow. Endlessly noble.

The Story Behind the Breed

The Basset Hound was bred by French monks in the 1500s who needed a slow-moving scent hound that hunters could follow on foot. The name comes from the French word 'bas' — meaning low. Those ears aren't decoration. They sweep scent particles from the ground directly toward the nose. The Basset Hound has 220 million scent receptors. You have five million. He's not lazy. He's operating on a level you can't perceive.

"Low. Slow. Endlessly noble."
